The Los Angeles Lakers got virtually nothing from their rookies in 2012-13

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by joelapinski on Monday 29 April 2013 at 9:41 pm

The Lakers didn’t have much P.T. available for their rookies in 2012-13.  23-year old center Robert Sacre played in 32 games (3 starts) for the Lakers last year and he averaged 6.3 minutes, 1.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  Sacre only shot 37.5% from the floor and 63.6% from the free throw line last year, which is pretty horrible for a center.  23-year old shooting guard Darius-Johnson Odom only lasted a short time for the Lakers before they let him go.  He played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Lakers last year and he averaged 1.5 minutes, 0.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game.

Robert Sacre is now nailed to the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by joelapinski on Sunday 3 March 2013 at 2:15 pm

23-year old center Robert Sacre has shown flashes of being a decent player so far in his rookie season, but his butt has been nailed to the bench lately.  Sacre has played in 25 games (3 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 7.6 minutes, 1.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  But, he is only shooting 37.8% from the floor and 63.6% from the free throw line so far this year and those are pretty awful numbers for a big man.  I don’t see Sacre playing more in the near future unless another Lakers’ big man gets injured.

Robert Sacre might just develop into a decent backup center for the Los Angeles Lakers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Sunday 27 January 2013 at 12:43 am

23-year old center Robert Sacre was the last pick in last June’s NBA Draft.  He has played in 21 games (3 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 7.9 minutes, 1.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  He is only shooting 33.3% from the floor so far this year and that is pretty awful.  But, in his three starts (when Dwight Howard was out of action), Sacre averaged 24.8 minutes, 6.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 2.0 blocked shots per game.  He might develop into a decent center for the Lakers in the future.

The Los Angeles Lakers waive Darius Johnson-Odom

Blogged under Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Tuesday 8 January 2013 at 4:50 pm

The Lakers have released 23-year old rookie shooting guard Darius Johnson-Odom.  Johnson-Odom played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Lakers this year and he averaged 1.5 minutes, 0.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game.  He wasn’t going to get P.T. for the Lakers any time soon, so they aren’t going to miss him moving forward.

Garbage time has been about it for the rookies on the Los Angeles Lakers

23-year old center Robert Sacre and 23-year old shooting guard Darius Johnson-Odom have only gotten to play at the end of games in blowouts so far this year.  I don’t see that changing any time soon.  Sacre has played in 12 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 4.3 minutes, 0.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  Johnson-Odom has played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 1.5 minutes, 0.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game so far this year.

The Los Angeles Lakers are getting next to nothing out of their rookies so far in 2012-13

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Friday 23 November 2012 at 4:28 pm

The Lakers aren’t giving their rookies much P.T. so far in 2012-13 and I don’t look for that to change any time soon.  23-year old center Robert Sacre has played in 7 games for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 2.4 minutes, 0.3 points, 0.1 assists and 0.3 blocked shots per game so far this year.  23-year old shooting guard Darius Johnson-Odom has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 1.0 minute, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game so far this year.  The Lakers have their eyes on winning another NBA Championship, so Sacre and Johnson-Odom are only going to get minutes at mop-up time this year.

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t have much P.T. available for their rookies

23-year old Andrew Goudelock and 21-year old Darius Morris didn’t get much of a chance to play in 2011-12 for the Los Angeles Lakers.  Goudelock played in 40 games (0 starts) for the Lakers last year and he averaged 10.5 minutes, 4.4 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  He only shot 39.1% from the floor last year.  Darius Morris played in 19 games (0 starts) for the Lakers last year and he averaged 8.9 minutes, 2.4 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  Unless Goudelock and Morris really improve in the off-season, they will likely be sitting near the end of the bench again in 2012-13.

The Los Angeles Lakers don’t play their rookies much

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Wednesday 7 March 2012 at 12:10 am

The Lakers have their eyes on the prize (winning another NBA Championship) so they don’t have much P.T. for rookies.  23-year old shooting guard Andrew Goudelock has played decent basketball when given the chance so far this year.  He has played in 29 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 11.4 minutes, 4.9 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  21-year old point guard Darius Morris has played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 10.3 minutes, 2.7 points, 0.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  Morris is shooting an really impressive 52% from the floor so far this year.  It says a lot about Morris that he is stuck behind ancient Derek Fisher and Steve Blake at point guard.

The Los Angeles Lakers should give more P.T. to their rookies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Sunday 12 February 2012 at 1:15 am

The Lakers have so many veterans playing like garbage right now, that they should give the rookies more P.T. to see if they can help energize the team a bit.  23-year old guard Andrew Goudelock has played in 19 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 11.3 minutes, 4.5 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  He is shooting 40.6% (13 of 32) from the three point line so far this year and that’s pretty impressive.  21-year old guard Darius Morris has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 13.0 minutes, 3.3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists so far this year.

The Los Angeles Lakers don’t have much P.T. for their rookies

The Lakers have aspirations of winning an NBA title, so they don’t have much P.T. for their rookies right now.  23-year old guard Andrew Goudelock played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 7.0 minutes, 1.4 points, 0.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  He is only shooting 23.1% (3 of 13) from the floor so far this year, which isn’t going to help him get P.T. any time soon.  21-year old guard Darius Morris has played in 1 game for the Lakers so far this year in which he worked 13 minutes and scored 4 points, grabbed 1 rebound and dished out 2 assists.
