The Los Angeles Lakers sign 28-year old shooting guard Nick Young to a 1-year, $1.18 million dollar deal. Young played in 59 games (17 starts) for the 76ers last year and he averaged 23.9 minutes, 10.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. He has now played in 416 games (122 starts) in his first six years in the NBA and he is averaging 23.1 minutes, 11.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Young will give the Lakers a nice insurance policy in case Kobe Bryant isn’t ready to start the 2013-14 season. Young shouldn’t have too much of a problem beating out Jodie Meeks for the backup shooting guard job next year. This was a nice pickup for the Lakers.
