Jodie Meeks has been pretty awful for the Los Angeles Lakers so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to Step up by admin on Wednesday 28 November 2012 at 7:11 pm

25-year old shooting guard Jodie Meeks only really has one asset on the basketball court that makes him a legit NBA player and it’s his shooting touch.  He has been shooting a lot of bricks so far this year as he is hitting on 35% from the floor and 31.7% from the three point line.  That just isn’t going to get the job done.  Meeks has played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 11.5 minutes, 4.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  I don’t look for him to get more P.T. as he is behind Kobe Bryant on the depth chart at shooting guard, so he needs to get sharp in practice and in the few minutes he gets per night.  If he isn’t shooting well, he’s not going to help the Lakers as he is a One Trick Pony.

Los Angeles Lakers 115, Dallas Mavericks 89

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Sunday 25 November 2012 at 2:38 pm

The Lakers demolished the Mavericks last night in Dallas.  They outrebounded them 61-39 and they held them to 37% shooting from the floor, which helps explain the scoreboard.  Metta World Peace (19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal), Kobe Bryant (19 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal) and Antawn Jamison (19 points, 15 rebounds and 1 steal in 30 minutes) led the way for the Lakers in this game.  Dwight Howard (15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocked shots), Pau Gasol (13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocked shot) and Jodie Meeks (11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 20 minutes on the floor) also pitched in for the Lakers.  The Lakers are now 7-7 on the year.

Memphis Grizzlies 106, Los Angeles Lakers 98

The Lakers just couldn’t hang with the Grizzlies last night in Memphis.  Kobe Bryant shot 7 of 23 from the floor as he led the way for the Lakers with 30 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal.  Metta World Peace (16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals) and Antawn Jamison (16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot in 27 minutes) also pitched in with solid games for the Lakers.  The Lakers are now 6-7 on the year.

Metta World Peace is off to solid start this year for the Los Angeles Lakers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 23 November 2012 at 4:32 pm

33-year old small forward Metta World Peace was missing in action in 2011-12 for the Lakers.  But, he is off to a good start for the Lakers so far in 2012-13.  World Peace has played in 12 games (all starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 34.8 minutes, 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game.  He is only shooting 40.8% from the floor, but he is also hitting 36% from three point range and 77.8% from the free throw line so far this year.  The Lakers hope that World Peace keeps up the good work, as he has really been a nice asset for them so far in 2012-13.

The Los Angeles Lakers are getting next to nothing out of their rookies so far in 2012-13

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Friday 23 November 2012 at 4:28 pm

The Lakers aren’t giving their rookies much P.T. so far in 2012-13 and I don’t look for that to change any time soon.  23-year old center Robert Sacre has played in 7 games for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 2.4 minutes, 0.3 points, 0.1 assists and 0.3 blocked shots per game so far this year.  23-year old shooting guard Darius Johnson-Odom has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Lakers so far this year and he is averaging 1.0 minute, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game so far this year.  The Lakers have their eyes on winning another NBA Championship, so Sacre and Johnson-Odom are only going to get minutes at mop-up time this year.

Sacramento Kings 113, Los Angeles Lakers 97

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Thursday 22 November 2012 at 2:44 pm

The Lakers didn’t play any D as the Kings shot 54.3% from the floor and they were also outrebounded 41-33, which didn’t help things.  The Lakers were outscored 40-28 in the 4th quarter by the Kings.  Kobe Bryant led the way for the Lakers last night with 38 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Jodie Meeks (15 points and 1 rebound in 16 minutes), Metta World Peace (13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot) and Darius Morris (12 points, 1 rebound and 2 assists) also pitched in for the Lakers.  The Lakers are now 6-6 on the year.

The Lakers looked pretty solid in Mike D’Antoni’s first game in charge.  Kobe Bryant (25 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal) and Dwight Howard (23 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 4 blocked shots) led the way for the Lakers last night.  Pau Gasol (17 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 blocked shot) and Metta World Peace (17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals) also pitched in with rock solid games for the Lakers last night.  The Lakers are now 6-5 on the year.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 19 November 2012 at 11:34 pm

The Lakers shot 54.1% from the floor last night and it was a big reason for the nice win.  Dwight Howard (28 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots) and Kobe Bryant (22 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 3 steals) led the way for the Lakers in this game.  Pau Gasol (17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal), Metta World Peace (15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal) and Darius Morris (12 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in 31 minutes) also pitched in for the Lakers.  The Lakers are now 5-5 on the year.

The Lakers outrebounded the Spurs 48-38 and they held them to 38.9% shooting from the floor……and they still lost last night!  Kobe Bryant led the way for the Lakers with 28 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 steal.  Dwight Howard (13 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots), Metta World Peace (12 points, 4 rebounds and 1 blocked shot) and Pau Gasol (10 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocked shots) also pitched in for the Lakers last night.  The Lakers are now 3-5 on the year.
