The Lakers have re-signed 24-year old power forward Jordan Hill to a 2-year deal.  Hill played in 7 games (1 start) for the Lakers last year and he averaged 11.7 minutes, 4.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Hill played in 39 games (8 starts) with the Rockets & Lakers last year and he averaged 14.1 minutes, 5.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  This was a good move for the Lakers as Hill will give them muscle off the bench.

The Lakers have signed 36-year old forward Antawn Jamison to a 1-year deal for the veteran’s minimum.  It is surprising that Jamison took a deal for so little money based on how well he played last year in Cleveland.  Jamison played in 65 games (all starts) for the Cavaliers last year and he averaged 33.1 minutes, 17.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.  He has now played in 985 games (858 starts) in his first 14 years in the NBA and he is averaging 36.3 minutes, 19.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  Jamison is 44th in points in NBA history (19,246) and he’s also #65 in rebounds (7,740).  This was a great pickup for the Lakers as Jamison will give them more offensive firepower in 2012-13.

The Los Angeles Lakers re-sign Devin Ebanks

The Lakers have re-signed 22-year old SG/SF Devin Ebanks to a 1-year deal.  Ebanks played in 24 games (12 starts) for the Lakers last year and he averaged 16.5 minutes, 4.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  He has now played in 44 games (12 starts) in his first two years in the NBA and he is averaging 11.7 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  This was a good signing for the Lakers as Ebanks came cheap enough.  He will likely see a bump in P.T. in 2012-13.

The Los Angeles Lakers acquire Steve Nash from the Phoenix Suns

Blogged under Big Lakers News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 5 July 2012 at 1:27 pm

The Lakers have acquired 38-year old point guard Steve Nash in a sign and trade deal with the Suns.  He will make $27 million bucks over the next three years with the Lakers.  The Lakers gave up their first and second round picks in 2013, a second round pick in 2014, a first round pick in 2015 and $3 million bucks.  Nash played in 62 games (all starts) with the Suns last year and he averaged 31.6 minutes, 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 10.7 assists per game.  Nash has now played in 1,152 games (993 starts) in his first 16 years in the NBA and he is averaging 31.4 minutes, 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game.  He has shot 42.8% from three point range so far in his career, which gives the Lakers a nice weapon that they didn’t really have last year.  Nash is #5 all-time in the NBA in assists with 9,887 of them.  He is also #10 in three pointers made with 1,620 of them.  This is a great addition for the Lakers and it could put them over the top.

The Lakers have re-signed 21-year old guard Darius Morris to a 1-year, $962,000 dollar deal.  He played in 19 games (0 starts) as a rookie for the Lakers last year and he averaged 8.9 minutes, 2.4 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  Morris could be in line for more P.T. in 2012-13, depending on if the Lakers bring Ramon Sessions back or another starting caliber point guard.
