The Los Angeles Dodgers decline Matt Treanor’s option for 2013
The Dodgers have declined 36-year old righty swinging catcher Matt Treanor’s option for 2013 which was valued at $950,000 bucks. They instead bought him out for $150,000 bucks. Treanor played in 36 games for the Dodgers last year and he was 18 of 103 (.175 avg, .563 OPS) with 11 runs scored, 2 homers, 10 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Treanor has now played in 468 games in his first 9 years in the majors and he is 281 of 1,272 (.221 avg, .618 OPS) with 120 runs scored, 18 homers, 129 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. This is no loss for the Dodgers as Treanor hits worse than a pitcher.
