32-year old righty swinging 1B Albert Pujols finished in 17th place in the 2012 A.L. MVP vote. Pujols played in 154 games for the Angels last year and he was 173 of 607 (.285 avg, .859 OPS) with 85 runs scored, 30 homers, 105 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. Pujols has now played in 1,859 games in his first 12 years in the majors and he is 2,246 of 6,919 (.325 avg, 1.022 OPS) with 1,376 runs scored, 475 homers, 1,434 RBIs and 92 stolen bases. Most players would take Pujols’ numbers from 2012 and consider it a success, but the Angels were expecting more out of him.
