28-year old righty starting pitcher Zack Greinke has been awesome for the Angels in September. He has started 5 games for the Angels so far this month and he is 3-0 with a 1.53 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. Greinke has now pitched in 12 games (all starts) for the Angels and he is 6-2 with a 3.40 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. Greinke has pitched in 33 games (all starts) overall this year for the Brewers and Angels in which he is 15-5 with a 3.42 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. Look for the Angels to make a strong push to re-sign Greinke over the winter.

C.J. Wilson is rebounding for the Los Angeles Angels in September

31-year old lefty starting pitcher C.J. Wilson was horrible in August for the Angels, starting 6 games in which he was 1-2 with a 7.99 ERA and a 1.87 WHIP. But, he has turned things around so far in September, starting 4 games in which he is 2-1 with a 3.54 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. He has now pitched in 32 games (all starts) for the Angels so far this year and he is 12-10 with a 3.82 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. Wilson has been solid overall this year, but the Angels were expecting more out of him when they signed him last winter.

Dan Haren is finally showing up for the Los Angeles Angels in September

32-year old righty starting pitcher Dan Haren has been a major disappointment overall this year for the Angels, but he is pitching well in September so far. Haren has started 3 games so far in September and he is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP. He has only given up 12 hits and 4 walks while whiffing 16 batters in 18 innings so far this month. Haren has now pitched in 27 games (all starts) for the Angels overall this year and he is 11-11 with a 4.41 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. The Angels need Haren to finish this season strongly.

Ernesto Frieri has been a godsend this year for the Los Angeles Angels

27-year old righty reliever Ernesto Frieri has been a godsend for the Angels this year. He has pitched in 46 games (0 starts) for the Angels so far this year and he is 3-0 with 18 saves, a 1.96 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP. Frieri has only given up 21 hits and he has walked 27 batters while whiffing an amazing 75 batters in only 46 innings for the Angels this year! He has now pitched in 57 games (0 starts) overall this year for the Padres and Angels and he is 4-0 with 18 saves, a 2.03 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. Frieri is a big reason why the Angels are still in the playoff hunt.

Erick Aybar has been red hot lately for the Los Angeles Angels

28-year old switch-hitting shortstop Erick Aybar has been red hot with the bat lately. Since August 1st, Aybar has played in 26 games in which he is 36 of 103 (.350 avg) with 20 runs scored, 3 homers, 11 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Aybar has now played in 117 games overall this year for the Angels and he is 120 of 430 (.279 avg, .723 OPS) with 52 runs scored, 7 homers, 39 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. The Angels need Aybar to keep swinging a hot stick in September if they are going to make the playoffs.

The Los Angeles Angels deal 1B Frazier Hall to the Diamondbacks

The Los Angeles Angels have dealt 24-year old lefty swinging 1B Frazier Hall to the Arizona Diamondbacks to complete the deal for Barry Enright. Hall played in 126 games in A-ball for the Angels this year and he was 116 of 456 (.254 avg, .708 OPS) with 56 runs scored, 13 homers and 50 RBIs. He played in 188 games in his two years in the minors for the Angels and he was 197 of 684 (.288 avg, .793 OPS) with 100 runs scored, 22 homers, 96 RBIs and 1 stolen base. The Angels have 1B in their system that they like better than Hall, so they likely won’t miss him at all moving forward.
