The Los Angeles Angels lose Fabio Martinez on waivers to the Indians
The Angels have lost 22-year old righty starter/reliever Fabio Martinez on waivers to the Cleveland Indians. Martinez came into this season as the Angels’ #13 prospect according to Baseball America. Martinez pitched in 8 games (all starts) in A-ball for the Angels this year and he was 0-5 with a 10.72 ERA and a 2.56 WHIP. He pitched in 72 games (58 starts) in his first six years in the minors with the Angels and he was 18-13 with 1 save, a 3.90 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Martinez only gave up 240 hits while whiffing 391 batters in his first 297 2/3 innings in the minors, but he walked 205 batters which is the reason the Angels let him go.
