Eric Hurley opts to become a free agent, leaving the Los Angeles Angels
26-year old righty starting pitcher Eric Hurley has opted out of his minor league contract to become a free agent. He pitched in 18 games (all starts) in AAA-ball for the Angels this year and he was 7-8 with a 5.81 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP. Hurley has only five games (all starts) of major league experience which came in 2008 with the Texas Rangers. He was 1-2 with a 5.47 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP in those game. The Angels aren’t going to miss him one bit moving forward.
