The Angels have placed 29-year old righty swinging catcher Bobby Wilson on the 7-day disabled list due to a concussion. Wilson has played in 32 games for the Angels this year and he is 13 for 76 (.171 avg, .403 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 0 homers and 1 RBI. The Angels have called up 24-year old switch-hitting catcher Hank Conger to replace Wilson on the roster. Conger made his season debut with the Angels last night and he went 1 for 3 with a double. Conger also has played in 17 games in AAA-ball so far this year in which he was 25 for 74 (.338 avg, .872 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 2 homers, 11 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Conger has now played in 73 games in his first three years with the Angels and he is 43 for 209 (.206 avg, .629 OPS) with 16 runs scored, 6 homers and 24 RBIs. As long as Conger can stay healthy, he will likely be the Angels’ starting catcher until Chris Iannetta comes off the D.L.
