The Angels have signed 28-year old righty swinging catcher Robinzon Diaz to a minor league deal. Diaz played in 55 games in AA+AAA-ball last year for the Rangers and he was 63 for 198 (.318 avg, .797 OPS) with 32 runs scored, 7 homers and 22 RBIs. He last played in the majors back in 2009 with the Pirates. Diaz has now played in 44 games in his first two years in the majors and he is 39 for 139 (.281 avg, .659 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 1 homer, 20 RBIs and 1 stolen base. The Angels will likely stash Diaz in AAA in 2012.
