Ervin Santana of the Los Angeles Angels threw a no-hitter yesterday against the Indians
28-year old righty starting pitcher Ervin Santana threw a no-hitter against the Indians yesterday in Cleveland. He only walked 1 batter and he allowed an unearned run due to an Erick Aybar error in the first inning. Santana was in complete control yesterday as he struck out 10 Indians, often making them look awful at the plate. He threw 76 of 105 pitches for strikes (72.4%) as he was coming right after the hitters yesterday. Santana improved to 6-8 on the season, which doesn’t tell the whole tale about how well he has pitched so far this year. Santana has started 22 games this year and he has a 3.47 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. He has only allowed 132 hits while whiffing 123 batters in his first 148 innings this year. He has also been in total control on the mound as he has only walked 40 batters so far this year. Santana was brilliant yesterday in Cleveland.
