The Angels have called up 19-year old righty swinging CF Mike Trout. Trout came into this season as the Angels’ #1 prospect according to Baseball America. Trout has played in 75 games in AA-ball for the Angels this year and he is 94 for 290 (.324 avg, .950 OPS) with 69 runs scored, 9 homers, 27 RBIs and 28 stolen bases. He has now played in 250 games in his first three years in the minors and he is 330 for 977 (.338 avg, .925 OPS) with 205 runs scored, 20 homers, 110 RBIs and 97 stolen bases. Trout will replace 24-year old righty swinging Peter Bourjos in CF this weekend due to a hamstring injury. Bourjos has played in 86 games for the Angels so far this year and he is 78 for 287 (.272 avg, .720 OPS) with 33 runs scored, 3 homers, 17 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. It will be interesting to see what the Angels decide to do if Bourjos doesn’t need to go on the D.L. and Trout gets off to a hot start.
