Jordan Walden has been nails for the Los Angeles Angels this year
It didn’t take long for manager Mike Scioscia to tire of using Fernando Rodney as the closer. They replaced him early this year with 23-year old righty Jordan Walden and he has rewarded the faith in him so far this year. Walden has a big time right arm as his fastball is always 95mph+. In his first 6 games this June, Walden is 0-0 with 5 saves, a 0.00 ERA and a 0.67 WHIP. He has only given up 2 hits while whiffing 12 batters in only six innings so far this month! Walden has pitched in 32 games (0 starts) for the Angels overall this year and he is 0-1 with 17 saves, a 2.59 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. He has only given up 24 hits while whiffing 38 batters in his 31 1/3 innings so far this year! But, he has walked 15 batters already this year. If Walden tightens up his control a bit, he is going to be one of the best closers in the majors for a long, long time.
