The Angels hope that 26-year old righty swinging 2B Howie Kendrick can stay healthy enough to play the whole season in 2010. He has not played in more than 105 games in any of his four years in the majors. Kendrick played in 105 games for the Angels last season and he was 109 for 374 (.291 avg, .778 OPS) with 61 runs scored, 10 homers, 61 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. Kendrick not only has a sweet swing but he is a good defensive player too. He only made 4 errors in 95 games for the Angels at 2B last season while showing average range.
29-year old switch-hitting Maicer Izturis took over for Kendrick last season while he was hurt or in the minors. He played in 68 games at 2B for the Angels last season and he only made 2 errors while showing below average range. The Angels are hoping that Izturis can go back to his old role of being a super utility man for them in 2010.
