Los Angeles Angels vs Boston Red Sox ALDS game 1 preview

The Los Angeles Angels are at home against the Boston Red Sox for game one of their ALDS.  This is the third year in a row that the Angels are facing off against the Red Sox in the first round and they are hoping for better results this year than the previous two.  The Red Sox have beaten the Angels in 12 of the past 13 postseason games they have faced each other in.  The Angels need starting pitcher John Lackey to be on his game.  The 30-year-old right-hander went 11-8 this year with a 3.83 ERA.  The Angels biggest weakness is their bullpen, so they need a good start out of Lackey.

The Angels need to win the games at home, as Boston has turned into one of the hardest places to play in October for opposing teams.  Jon Lester is starting for the Red Sox, and luckily for the Angels they light left-handers up and have been hot all year.  The Angels have 10 batters that hit .272 or better.  Unfortunately, Lester has also been hot as he has won six of his last seven decisions.  This will be an exciting series but the Angels better defend their home-field advantage or they will be in trouble.
