The Angels will have a new look in 2009 as Mark Teixeira, Francisco Rodriguez, Jon Garland and Garrett Anderson will not be playing for them. The Angels have a deep farm system and many of those youngsters will have to step up in 2009 if the Angels are to defend their American League West crown. The biggest move for the offense was re-signing outfielder/DH Juan Rivera. Rivera will likely be a full time player this season for the Angels and he might really surprise. The Angels have replaced K-Rod with lefty Brian Fuentes as the closer. While Fuentes isn’t as good as Rodriguez, he’s still a very solid option for the Angels late in games.
