The #1 priority in free agency for the Angels should be re-signing 1B Mark Teixeira. But, that will not be easy as he is the best hitter available and he has many suitors to choose from. The Angels also need a starting LF as Garret Anderson is now a free agent. The Angels will think about re-signing Anderson if they lose out on the players available that are better than him. That list would include Manny Ramirez, Adam Dunn, Raul Ibanez, Pat Burrell and Bobby Abreu. C.C. Sabathia might have a interest in playing with the Angels to stay close to home but they will likely choose a cheaper alternative to fill out the rotation. Braden Looper, Paul Byrd or Pedro Martinez could interest the Angels if they go the cheaper route. If the Angels are willing to ante up some cash to fill the rotation then Ben Sheets, Derek Lowe, A.J. Burnett, Ryan Dempster, Randy Johnson and Oliver Perez could be in play. The Angels would like to retain Darren Oliver if they can get him at a reasonable price. If not they could try to make a move signing Joe Beimel, Jeremy Affeldt, Brian Shouse, Arthur Rhodes, Dennys Reyes, Alan Embree or Will Ohman as they need a lefty in the pen. The Angels will likely be improved in the off season as long as they can re-sign Teixeira.
