Vladimir Guerrero has played in 37 games since the All-Star Break and he is 48 for 152 (.316 avg, .903 OPS) with 24 runs scored, 5 homers and 25 RBIs. Still the Angels are wondering where his power has went. The answer lies in the fact that the Angels don’t have a legit hitter behind him to protect him in the lineup so the opposing teams are getting more careful when pitching to him. Still it’s hard to be upset with Guerrero because he is by far and away the best player on the Angels. In 122 games this season Guerrero is 149 for 463 (.322 avg, .944 OPS) with 70 runs scored, 19 homers and 100 RBIs.

The Angels have called up Brandon Wood with Erick Aybar and Chone Figgins both hurting. Wood is a top prospect but he’s had some problems in his limited time in the majors this season. He has played in 8 games this season for the Angels and he is 3 for 21 (.143 avg, .333 OPS) with 1 run scored and 1 RBI. The Angels have sent reliever Marcus Gwyn to the minors to make room on the roster for Wood. Gwyn has pitched in 2 games this season for the Angels and he is 0-0 with 1 save, a 4.50 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP. In 4 innings with the Angels, Gwyn has allowed 5 hits, walked 3 batters and whiffed 1.

The Angels have activated Howie Kendrick from the DL to replace Aybar on the roster. Kendrick will take back over as the starting 2B for the Angels and they need his bat. He has played in 53 games this season for the Angels and he is 64 for 203 (.315 avg, .796 OPS) with 38 runs scored, 4 homers and 19 RBIs.
