The Los Angeles Angels designate Hector Carrasco for assignment
The Angels have decided that they’ve seen enough out of Hector Carrasco for the season. He pitched well for them last year but he’s been awful so far this season which led to the Angels letting him go. In 29 games (1 start) this season for the Angels, Carrasco was 2-1 with a 6.75 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP. In 38.1 innings this season Carrasco has allowed 44 hits, 8 homers, walked 23 batters and whiffed 33. The Angels have recalled Chris Resop from AAA to replace Carrasco in the bullpen. Resop has pitched in 27 games in AAA ball and he was 1-3 with a 4.57 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP. He has thrown 45.1 innings this season and he has allowed 50 hits, walked 16 batters and whiffed 39.
