The Angels are upset will Gary Matthews and they want him to come clean about his buying HGH off of the internet. The Angels have a right to be angry as they paid Matthews (5 years, $50 million bucks) big bucks based on his recent performance and they want to make sure it was done legit and was not drug powered. The 32 year old switch hitter played in 147 games last season and he hit .313 with 102 runs scored, 19 homers, 79 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and a .866 OPS. He also made his share of Sportcenter highlighted plays again in CF last year for the Rangers. He played 142 games in CF last season and he made 7 errors while showing slightly below average range. Look for Matthews to crumble under the pressure to play clean and to hit .250-.260 with around 10 homers. He could be a huge bust for the Angels.

25 year old switch hitting speedster Reggie Willits will be Matthews’ back up in center field this season. Willits played in 97 games in AAA ball last season and he hit . 327 with 85 runs scored, 3 homers, 39 RBIs, 31 stolen bases and a .874 OPS. He also played in 28 games last season for the Angels and he hit .267 with 12 runs scored, 4 steals and a .700 OPS. He also showed outstanding range in 19 games in CF last season and he only made 1 error there. Look for Willits to be a valuable reserve for the Angels this season.
